Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR: almost like a racing car

Volkswagen has just presented the Golf GTI TCR . An approved version for street inspired by the powerful racing car that carries the same acronym. This edition is placed between the Golf GTI Performance and the Golf R, as its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 290 hp. That is, it is 45 HP more than the GTI and only 10 HP below the R.

Its automatic double-clutch transmission with seven gears, transmits the power only to the front wheels. With which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h of 5.6 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 250 km/h electronically limited or 260 km/h as an option .

Obvious differences with the Normal GTI

The new Golf GTI TCR differs from the standard GTI by some exterior modifications, such as the front diffuser , the skirts , the roof spoiler and the rear diffuser . All these elements are exclusive to this version. It also has black 18-inch light-alloy wheels, mirrors in the same color, LED headlights, a self-locking differential on the front axle and perforated brake discs.

And if that were not enough ...

Customers can choose to differentiate a little more with a sheet of vinyl honeycomb for the sides, a black roof and carbon fiber casings. You can also choose from a couple of optional packages . The first comes with the DCC adaptive suspension, sports rear cushioning and 19-inch V-max tires with 235/35 tires. The second has the same characteristics and adds semi-slick tires and wheel bolts with anti-theft protection.

Inside the GTI TCR

Opening the doors projects the TCR logo on the tarmac and, once inside, the occupants will find front sport seats with a new design of microfiber and fabric, a sports steering wheel and details in red in various parts.

The period of reservations has already been opened in Germany, where the price of the Volkswagen GTI TCR is 38,950 euros , taxes included. This places it exactly between the 33,625 euros that costs the Golf GTI Performance and the 41,175 euros of the Golf R. The optional packages cost 2,350 euros and 3,200 euros respectively.
